Madhusudan Naidu - Madhusudan Naidu Muddenahalli
The event discussed in this story occurs while Swami is at Kodaikanal, attending the spiritual summer retreat Madhusudan Naidu. Observing a piece of writing on the windshield of a bus Swami is led into giving his disciples an important lesson. He declares that there is an error in the writing and teaches his followers the secret of happiness - making others happy. This leads Madhusudan Naidu to remember an earlier incident where Swami had advised him to be selfless in his prayer. Both these incidents highlight the fact that God bestows happiness upon those who seek to make others happy.
During the Kodaikanal spiritual summer retreat of May 2016, Swami went out for a leisure trip around the hill station when He saw the bus that was carrying some of the students. On top of the windshield of the bus was written, “Be happy. Make others happy.”Madhusudan Naidu
After coming back, Swami said that the statement on the bus was wrong and He asked everyone as to what was wrong in that statement.

Everyone tried to guess the answer when Swami Himself replied, “It should be the other way round which is - Make others happy. Be happy.”
“If you try to make yourself happy first it may not be possible, but if you make others happy then you can definitely be happy”, He revealed.

Sometime back when Swami asked us all to chant ‘Samastha Loka Sukhino Bhavantu’ - May all the beings, in all the worlds, be happy, He let out the secret of happiness by saying, “Instead of praying selfishly that you alone should be happy, if you rather pray selflessly that all should be happy then both the prayers will get answered. As God loves answering selfless prayers, so, when you pray for everyone’s happiness, since you are also a part of all, you will also become happy automatically.”
